Jushe Hostel Ranks Top 3 on Meituan in Hefei — Thank You

In Meituan's latest ranking of well-reviewed hostels in Hefei, Jushe Hostel landed in the top three, with our locations holding a combined score of 4.6–4.7.

The ranking itself is not the point. What is behind it is — tens of thousands of ratings from people who actually stayed. Since we opened in April 2025, Jushe has hosted more than 90,000 guest stays (as of January 1, 2026). This post takes the score apart honestly: where it comes from, and what we still have not gotten right.

The subscores: location, cleanliness, service, safety, atmosphere

Guest subscores have held steady in roughly this band: location 4.8–4.9, cleanliness 4.6–4.7, service 4.6–4.7, sense of safety 4.6–4.7, atmosphere 4.4–4.5.

Two of those — location and safety — come from decisions about where to open and what rules to run. Cleanliness and service are earned daily through execution. Atmosphere is the hardest, because it depends on the people sharing the space. It is our lowest of the five, and the one we keep turning over.

The four things guests mention most

One: 10-second self check-in. Book online, register with your ID at the kiosk, get the door code on the printed slip and by text at the same time, let yourself in. No waiting at a front desk, any hour of the day. The scenario that shows up most often in reviews is some version of "got into Hefei at 2 a.m. and had already resigned myself to sleeping in the station."

Two: fresh bedding for every guest. A full set of sheets, duvet cover, and pillowcase before every arrival, all washed and sanitized at high temperature by a third-party specialist. Common areas and bathrooms get a deep clean each morning and an inspection-and-clean round every hour after that, more than 15 rounds a day, and slippers are disinfected between guests. This is the single easiest thing for a hostel to get wrong, and it is where we spend hardest.

Three: a manager on site 24 hours. Managers walk the property around the clock and typically answer WeChat or a phone call within five minutes. Beyond repairs and booking changes, they pass along local hiring and gig listings — every location offers free referrals to short-term gig work, so if you want income while you are between things, ask at the desk.

Four: no deposit, low rent. From 19 RMB a night, no deposit, a one-night minimum, utilities included, free cancellation before 6 p.m. on your first night. For a job seeker, that means housing is something you can always back out of instead of a sunk cost.

Two real reviews

Those two cover our main groups: people job hunting away from home, and people studying for exams. What they have in common is that they are in a transitional stretch of life and need somewhere low-cost, low-risk, and settled enough to stay a while.

What we got right: three pillars

Aggressive pricing — we squeeze cost through central operations, smart energy management, and standardized purchasing, then hand the savings to guests rather than cutting corners on bedding and cleaning.

Real flexibility — we broke with the six-month-minimum convention. Daily, weekly, or monthly, come and go as you like, no deposit tying you down.

Self-service throughout — online booking, self-service entry, smart utilities, available 24 hours, so a middle-of-the-night arrival still checks in immediately.

There is a fourth that is less visible and just as important: we only take sites at metro stops. All five locations are within walking distance of a station, which is the entire reason the location subscore sits at 4.8–4.9. More on that in the Hefei metro guide.

What we still have not gotten right

The score is not perfect, which means the gaps are real. Better we name them than wait for guests to find them.

Laundry costs money. Washers and dryers are separated by gender, but you pay 2–3 RMB by QR code. Guests staying long-term have raised this, and we are looking at a better arrangement.

Shared bathrooms back up at peak. Shower areas are split by gender with hot water around the clock, but there are a finite number of private stalls, and mornings and evenings do involve waiting. For now the only fix is staggering your timing and keeping showers short.

Shared rooms are not soundproof. A curtain blocks sight, not sound. Differences in sleep schedules are the biggest source of variation in the shared-room experience. What we can do is set clear quiet hours and steer calls and gaming to the lounge — the specifics are in your first hostel stay. If you are sensitive to noise, book a 4-bed room.

What comes next

Jushe was never trying to be a cheap flophouse. The goal is a decent, secure temporary home for young people out chasing something. The ranking came from guests, and the only way to return it is to keep executing: bedding changed for every guest, a manager on site 24 hours, and prices held at the lowest in each neighborhood.
